    Senior/Accountant - GW/MK

    Permanent Position
    A global provider of medical technologies company in Singapore is looking for an experienced Accountant to join their team. You will be reporting to the Senior Finance Manager and be responsible to perform all the tasks encompassed in an accountancy role.

    Job Description

    AR Process 

    • Manage bank checks, documents against acceptance (D/A), and letters of credit (L/C)
    • Send out sporadic invoices or credit and debit notes for sample fees, margin adjustments, or royalty income.
    • Communicate with shared service regarding the provision of bad debts, the clearing of AR receipts, and AR collection
    • Work together to find a solution for month-end blocked invoices with the shared service and customer service teams.
    • Lift the credit restriction for urgent purchase orders.
    • Work together on credit notes for short shipments and returned goods with the operations and customer service teams.

    Financial Reporting and Controlling 

    • Submit monthly reports using Hyperion, create audit schedules for items on the balance sheet, send tax packages to headquarters using the One Source system, and provide ad-hoc reports as needed by the APAC controller.
    • Examine significant variations in intercompany margin and balance sheet items and comment on them.
    • Determine and accumulate monthly agent commission and margin.
    • Consult with partners from other companies to correct any AP/AR imbalances before the month's end close.
    • Collaborate closely with other departments to simplify procedures and offer expert advice on accounting issues. Make sure that appropriate internal controls are put in place to protect company resources and reduce risks.

    Cash management 

    • Create and submit to Corp Treasury a quarterly/annual cash flow and forex hedging forecast.
    • Communicate with bankers about the L/C, the KYC questionnaire, and other banking issues.

    Inventory management 

    • Discuss short shipments and quality hold inventory with the Ops team.
    • Conduct monthly inventory reconciliation for a number of stock locations and alert the management team to any excess inventory.
    • Examine the logistic team's submission of inventory scrap.
    • Determine the provision for surplus and obsolete stock.

    Audit and tax  

    • Coordinate year-end auditing efforts with PWC.
    • Coordinate questions with internal auditors and address any issues.
    • Create and submit quarterly GST returns, and help with document follow-up.
    • Send ad-hoc withholding tax payments to IRAS.
    • When necessary, coordinate and communicate with tax agents, corporate secretarial staff, regional tax officials, and governmental agencies.

    Costing 

    • Coordinate with various functions to update SAP's ad hoc and annual standard costs.
    • Give product marketing teams accurate cost data.
    • Examine and publish a monthly report on purchase price variations. To reduce PPV gaps, pinpoint and research any significant differences between standard costs and purchase price variance.

    Others 

    • Possessing leadership qualities that allow them to take charge of ad hoc projects as needed and contribute significantly to meetings.
    • System knowledge, including the capacity to comprehend system concepts and connect the logic to business practice.

    Key Relationships/ Interfaces 

    • Internal: US Corp team, all departments, and cross-company service providers
    • External: Bankers, auditors, tax officials, offshore service providers, corporate secretariat clients, and GD distributors.

    Requirements

    • At least a diploma in accounting or comparable experience
    • At least five years of practical experience managing a full range of financial reports and creating financial projections
    • SAP software experience and knowledge are strong plusses.
    • Minimum VLOOKUP, pivot, and strong Excel formula skills
    • Detail-oriented, collaborative, quick to act, high level of initiative, multi-tasking
    • Effective English writing and speaking abilities
    • Capable of handling last-minute requests and tight deadlines
    • Competent with little guidance and a steep learning curve
