Permanent PositionOur MNC client is looking for a General Manager to be responsible for all aspects of Supply Chain Management; efficient running and optimization of the logistics operations to fully support retail operations, to maximise profitability and customer satisfaction through effective and efficient leadership and management.Job Description
- Lead, mentor and manage Supply Chain team.
- Lead, train and develop country management teams to establish World Class Supply chain management across the region.
- Ensure close alignment between business strategy and supply chain priorities.
- Develop the product fulfillment processes and procedures in line with the aim of improving service levels (having the right product, in the right time, every time).
- Develop and manage supply chain business plan in close coordination with internal as well as external stakeholders (suppliers and logistics partners).
- Manage 3rd Party Logistics provider to ensure smooth operations. Responsible for managing 3rd Party Logistics provider, review their processes and ensure that they meet the agreed service levels.
- Optimise balance between merchandise availability and inventory holdings within budget and forecasts, improve and control inventory levels with the aim of reducing working capital as well as obsolescence.
- Improve stock turns and speed to market.
- Effectively manage supply chain partners, including but not limited to transport providers.
- Ensure Supply Chain complies with all internal and external rules and regulations.
- Efficiency – monitor, improve, and optimize cost of deliveries, stock accuracy, and head-count (warehouse staff & customer service staff).
- Monitor and continuously improve Supply Chain performance through ongoing measurements and reporting to senior management.
- Providing leadership and mentorship for the Warehouse & Logistics Managers in the following areas:
- Demand and Supply Planning
- Liaise with Buyers and Suppliers to ensure right levels of inventory holding at all points in the Supply Chain.
- Analyse product flow patterns for locally sourced and imported merchandise to constantly improve customer service.
- Prepare replenishment orders for specific product range as agreed with the buying teams.
- Monitor and report on supplier performance.
- Liaise with branch managers to minimise outstanding orders and ensure systems integrity (relative to outstanding orders).
- Manage return goods to suppliers.
- Liaise with buyers to clear aged and discontinued ranges within budgets.
- Delivery Management
- Negotiate contracts with transport providers.
- Ensure full compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Monitor transport provider performance.
- Monitor utilization of delivery capacity.
- Warehouse Management
- Optimise utilization of warehouse space.
- Drive efficient and effective warehouse operations.
- Manage receipt of incoming deliveries from suppliers.
- Put-Away, picking, and staging.
- Loading of customer and branch deliveries.
- Ensure proper support documentation and systems update.
- Quality Management
- Lead and support the Quality Control team with respect to Suppliers Audit; Quality/Technical issues resolution.
- Design, implement and continually evaluate quality control programs and procedures to ensure the maintenance of quality & safety in products.
- Logistics Management
- Improve customer delivery reliability.
- Manage customer installations.
- Implement and manage revenue stream for delivery and installation charges.
- Effective management of stock transfers between locations.
- Performance Management
- Maintain and continuously enhance Supply Chain scorecard.
- Regularly report to Senior Management on supply chain performance.

- Minimum a higher Diploma Holder, preferably Degree holder.
- Minimum 10 years experience from Retail (or FMCG) Supply Chain Management.
- Strong result orientation with focus on achieving performance goals.
- Ability to operate effectively at strategic as well as operational levels.
- Comfortable working under pressure.
- Analytical with strong decision making skills.
- Excellent people management/leadership skills.
